Every great outdoor space starts with a plan. Before a single board goes down, we spend time on-site mapping out the layout - figuring out traffic flow, sight lines, how the structure will tie into the existing home. That groundwork is what separates a deck that just exists from one that actually works for how you live.

We're getting started on a composite deck and pergola build for this beautiful stone home. The backyard has great bones - wide open space, a covered patio area already in place, and a roofline that gives us a strong anchor point for the pergola design. Right now we're in the layout and prep phase, measuring out the footprint and making sure everything is square before any materials hit the ground.

Composite decking is one of our favorite recommendations for builds like this. It holds up against heat, moisture, and heavy use without the maintenance headaches that come with traditional wood. No sealing, no staining, no warping. You get the look of a natural deck with a fraction of the upkeep.

The pergola piece is what really pulls it together. It gives the space definition, adds shade where you need it, and creates that feeling of an outdoor room rather than just an open slab. We're designing it to complement the existing covered patio structure so the whole back of the home feels cohesive - not like pieces were just added on over time.

Stay tuned. We'll be sharing progress as the build moves along, and the finished space is going to be something worth seeing.
